We have had a successful first week back after the holiday break. I hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy some time with family over the break. With the warm weather, it hasn't felt like the middle of winter, and I'm hoping every warm day is one less cold day to come before spring. January will be a busy month for us, including benchmark assessments and working with each student to modify their learning goals based on growth to this point in the year. The next set of conferences will be coming up in February, and we look forward to these conversations.
Additionally, an exciting new program is beginning in our district! Destination ImagiNation is an innovative organization that teaches creativity, teamwork and problem solving to students internationally. Its main program is a team tournament where student teams from all over the world solve mind-bending Challenges. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together, and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirement of the Challenges. Our district has ten teams registered for the program! If you are interested in being involved as a leader, please contact Sonya Zieske (379-5153 or szieske@albertlea.k12.mn.us).
Again, welcome back and have a great start to the month.
